• 推し, or, "Oshi", romanized into English, is a Japanese slang term that comes from the word 押す, or, "Osu", meaning to support, recommend, or push for.
• 美味しい, or, "Oishii", is the Japanese adjective that means "delicious"/"tasty".
• お尻, or, "Oshiri", is the Japanese word for....uh...actually, you can look that one up on your own, and figure out the clever wordplay for yourself.

The term Oshi, became popularized by Idol Culture to speak about who you would essentially consider your favorite(s) in a group. You would say someone is your "Oshi", the same way you might talk about a player on a sports team. The one that you're always hoping makes the best play, gets the most renown, and succeeds in their dream. While you could technically use the term to speak about a favorite player or a favorite actor, it's more strongly associated with specifically Japanese-style entertainment and fandoms. It has since evolved beyond idol culture over there, to be a term commonly used when talking about your favorite VTuber; a craze that really kicked off with the start of Hololive back in 2018 in Japan, and 2020 for their English branch. Essentially no different than the entertainers many people were used to watching stream their favorite video games, react to different series or movies, sing and perform, or just talk about different topics like any other variety channel, this new type of entertainer had all the right pieces in place for it to spread like a wildfire in terms of popularity, to today, selling out entire venues.

So what does this have to do with our hot sauce?

We're a husband and wife couple that bonded over our shared love of anime and games from the very beginning going back to High School. The next 15 years until our marriage would have us going to conventions, cosplaying our favorite characters, and in general being each others best friend when it came to all things related to that side of nerd culture, even going as far to consider ourselves the oft used slang of the time for those obsessed with Japanese media, "Otakus", or even, "Weeaboos".

I've also always been a spice fiend. Always constantly trying new hot sauces, with nearly every meal needing something to kick it up a notch. While my wife doesn't quite share the same passion for this (unfortunately limited by tummy issues beyond her control), I've always had her full support...provided I don't send myself to the ER from my eyes being bigger than my stomach. 

After years of tossing the idea around in my head, I realized that there is no major effort at a hot sauce brand designed for Otakus, by Otakus. I, like many others in 2020 trying to find any escape from the real world they could, fell into the VTuber rabbit hole. After our honeymoon trip to Japan in 2024, attending in-person VTuber concerts, and being surrounded by the positivity and good vibes of the fandom, there was a reawakening of why we loved this kind of stuff in the first place. Oishiri 辛 Sauce is designed for that very purpose. Created in 2025, all of our flavors are very carefully chosen to give the anime and VTuber fan community, a premium product with premium designs. Few ingredients, fresh peppers, and heat levels to fit everyone's tolerance.
